Portraits

I only had two models to work with so this is why I have so many of them
Date and Time: May 25, 12:30pm; Location: Bannack, MT; f/stop and Shutter Speed: 5.6, 1/125
I wanted to show the difference between HDR black and white and photoshop black and white

Photoshop black and white
Date and Time: May 25, 1pm; Location: Bannack, MT; f/stop and Shutter Speed: 7.1, 1/250
I added vibrance to enhance the color a bit.

I didn't change this one at all

HDR but didn't change it once I put it into HDR

Tried to add a sepia look to it.

Action Blur and Freeze

"Splash"
Date and Time: May 25, 11:15am; Location: Bannack, MT; f/stop and Shutter Speed: 4.5, 1/1000 I wasn't too impressed with my action shots, but this was the best out of my action freeze shots. You can tell how dirty the water is by the color in the middle of the splash. I added vibrance to enhance the color
"Lingering Guest"
Date and Time: May 25, 11:20am; Location: Bannack, MT; f/stop and Shutter Speed: 22.0, 6.0 I didn't have a tripod to use so I put the camera on the ground and used the strap of the camera to angle the camera up. Leaving the shutter speed open for six seconds the 'ghost' moved into a nearby room after three seconds.
"Ghost Students"
Date and Time: May 25, 6pm; Location: Bannack, MT; f/stop and Shutter Speed: 22.0, 4.0 Left the shutter speed open for four seconds then had the 'students' mover after two and a half seconds while the 'teacher' didn't move. I darkened the picture using the multiply adjustment layer then removed the darkness in the 'ghosts', 'teacher', and blackboard.

"Ghost Teacher"
Date and Time: May 25, 6pm; Location: Bannack, MT; f/stop and Shutter Speed: 29.0, 4.0

Original shot

Bannack Best

"Bannack"
Date and Time: May 25, 2pm; Location: Bannack, MT; f/stop and Shutter Speed: 10.0, 1/125
I gave this a black and white look to make it look like an old town. I lowered the colors in black and white to darken the picture.
"Cowboy"
Date and Time: May 25, 2:15pm; Location: Bannack, MT; f/stop and Shutter Speed: 13.0, 1/320
I wanted to give this a western feel so I added sepia. I set the camera on timer and ran to my spot in front of the camera.
"Flower" Date and Time: May 25, 4pm; Location: Bannack, MT; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 7.1, 1/400
I went for a hike in the hills behind Bannack and saw these flowers. I kept playing with this shot in photoshop but didn't like any of the things I did. I decided to play with HDR and really enjoyed this look.

"Mirror Mirror" Date and Time: May 25, 12:43/2:30pm; Location: Bannack, MT; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 5.6/6.3, 1/125/1/80  I took two pictures and combined them together. I thought about the movie Snow White and the "mirrior mirror on the wall" saying. I didn't add anything to this picture.

"Truck" Date and Time: May 25, 5:15pm; Location: Bannack, MT; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 5.6, 1/500
I wanted a different shot of the truck and really had fun with HDR. I used one of the match colors.
"Bannack" Date and Time: May 25, 4pm; Location: Bannack, MT; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 7.1, 1/400
As you can see I really had fun with HDR. I took this up in the hills behind Bannack. I used a color match for the color
"Spiral Hills" Date and Time: May 25, 4pm; Location: Bannack, MT; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 7.1, 1/400
When I put this into HDR I had to adjust the three photos so they lined up together. When the picture popped up there was a swirl in the picture, while the center was in focus. I thought it had a cool look so I kept it. I didn't change it at all.
"Locked Up" Date and Time: May 25, 1:45pm; Location: Bannack, MT; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 5.0/7.1, 1/60/ 1/100  These two pictures are taken in the jail. I combined them to make the jail seem hard and a place you don't want to stay. I wanted it to look hard and unbreakable. I darkened the picture with the multiply adjustment layer and deleted the rock on the chain.
"Grave" Date and Time: May 25, 7pm; Location: Bannack, MT; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 10.0, 1/160
This is my cemetery shot! I love the angle of this picture and the design in the rocks. I used HDR to give the rocks more color.

Portraits

"Game focused"- Date and Time: May 20, 8pm; Location: BYU-I; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 4.5, 1/250
I added saturation,  brightness and lowered the contrast. This is during a frisbee game and I liked how focused he was on the game.
"Wife's support"-Date and Time: May 20, 8pm; Location: BYU-I; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 5.0, 1/320
I airbrushed some color to her cheeks and added saturation for the color. This woman was watching her husband play frisbee and she looked about 7 months pregnant, that's support right there.

"Pose for me"-Date and Time: May 22, 5:30pm; Location: BYU-I; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 7.1, 1/250
I used the 'multiply' adjustment layer to darken the picture, then used the brush to bring back light to her  face and arms. I also lightened the rocks just a little so they weren't so dark. This was one of my models for the day and it was a lot of fun. The girls would just pose, laugh and just have a good time.

"Young love" Date and Time: May 5, 2pm; Location: BYU-I; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 8.0, 1/500
I added just a little bit of saturation. I caught these two love birds napping on campus and just loved how close they were even though they were asleep.

"Besties" Date and Time: May 22, 6:35pm; Location: BYU-I; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 6.3, 1/200
I added vibrance and lowered the brightness just a slight bit. These two girls cracked me up and wanted funny pictures that they could look back on and laugh about. I ended up really liking this picture.

"Go long" Date and Time: May 20, 7:40pm; Location: BYU-I; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 5.6, 1/250
I darkened the picture a little, and added vibrance for the color. I also used a blue airbrush on his face to bring more of the color out. I found out I really enjoy taking sports pictures. Capturing moments that bring out the game was lots of fun.

Editing Assignment

I was really hard for me to give the shirt color. I tried and tried to add color but nothing would work. After many attempts black was the only thing I could get. The only problem is the shirt doesn't look real.

Date and Time: May 22, 5pm; Location: BYU-I; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 8.0, 1/320 sec

I started by using a spot remover around her face and removing the double chin.  Then I added saturation and vibrance for the color.

Date and Time: May 22, 6pm; Location: BYU-I; F/stop and Shutter Speed: 8.0, 1/500 sec
I matched the color with picture below that's it.

These are 2 of my FHE sisters that wanted pictures to send to their families. I had a lot of fun taking these pictures.
